Regional Online Training for Young Greeters

Regional online training for young greeters was held yesterday, on July 14th,  as part of the activities of the Monumental 9 project.

Greeters are locals who with their emotions, memories and insights allow the visitor to feel the way of life in one place.  Representatives of the Agency for Local Democracy shared their knowledge and experience that they improve in this area from 2018 as the first greeters in Montenegro .

In addition to general information about history, existing greeters’ networks, participants learned more about greeting principles and the differences between greeters and tour guides.

The goal of the training was to allow participants to learn in first hand how and why to become a gritter, although they already know the basics thanks to the previous training held  in Prijedor  in January.  Within the project # Monumental9, young people will have the opportunity to contribute to local economic development and create preconditions for certain incomes by participating in the creation of an authentic tourist offer. Thez will also be part of the wider story of cultural tourism within the Balkan Monumental Trail developed by  The Regional Cooperation Council, which is also a donor of this project funded by the European Union.

The training ended with the conclusions of the participants that basically everyone had the opportunity to be a greeter because at least once they showed the authenticity of their community to a known or unknown visitor.
